Portal Guard Account Management
Butte College has an Account Management Tool which can be useful for knowing when your password will expire, provides a link to update your password, check or update 2FA stored contact numbers, access to email and mobile authenticator.
The following sections describe the features of the Account Management Tool.
How to change your password and Last Login, Password Change, Reset.
Note that if you choose to clear you will be required to update this section after 10 logins.
In this section you can either setup or update your external email address.
It is highly recommended to have an external email setup, that you have access to, as a primary or secondary recovery method.
This section will let you update your default recovery method if avaiable. For example
if your phone is your default primary recovery method you can choose to change it
to email or vice versa.
OTP Methods:
- Phone: Defaults to your established smart phone. Most users will use this option.
- Email: Defaults to your established external email.
- YubiKey: This option is only used by a very limited group using a USB YubiKey for access.
- Mobile Authenticator: This option will default to an established mobile authenticator if one is setup.
- Help Desk: This option is not a recovery method, it defaults to a contact number for help desk at 895-2925.
This menu will let you setup, add or remove your registered phone.
This recovery method should be a phone you have access to, and is able to recieve text messages.
